We’ve seen floor tiles getting bigger and bigger over the past few years. High gloss floor tiles across a wide open space are a fabulous entrance statement into a home, office or hotel.
The fashion sees no end in sight, with the latest tile being over 6ft long. This takes 2 men and special equipment to handle and to lay it properly, but with less joints, and more shine there’s no doubt someone will have it soon.
This is largely due to the fact that using tiles of this size results in fewer grout lines for a clean and uninterrupted finish. It’s a myth that large scale tiles can’t be used in smaller rooms – in fact, these spaces are perfect for them. Using oversized tiles tricks the eye into thinking that the room is much bigger than it really is, so can help to create a sense of scale where it doesn’t naturally exist.
